FOR VETERAN VOICE
More than 30 teens and chaperones from Palm City Presbyterian Church’s youth ministry gathered at The Salvation Army’s Family Store on a recent Saturday to volunteer to help. The group cheerfully sorted and tagged clothing donations, washed the store’s truck and windows, vacuumed, and put out new furniture and items on the sales floor.
The event was the culmination of a whole week of mission work for the teens. The group had just returned from a mission trip to north Florida and wanted a chance to serve in their local community.
“I think it’s important for our young people to realize they are called to serve,” said Kristen McWilliams, Director of Youth Ministry at Palm City Presbyterian. “By serving locally, alongside an organization like The Salvation Army, the students are able to bless others, as well as get blessed themselves.”
